Stop SB 48 Petitions Now Available

Official referendum petitions to overturn California’s controversial new “gay history” law, SB 48, are now available online. The clock is racing toward the end of September, by which the StopSB48 coalition must gather approximately 550,000 valid signatures.

Pacific Justice Institute drafted the referendum and is an active part of the StopSB48 coalition. To increase access to the petitions, they are now available on PJI's home page and at www.StopSB48.com. PJI attorneys are encouraging California voters to pay close attention to the first page of instructions in the online petition document so that every signature will count.

“We expect this to come down to the wire,” said Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute. “Every Californian who believes in parental rights and passing down an unbiased history to our children is going to have to get involved. We need 7,000 people to commit to gathering 100 signatures each. We need people to give like our future depends on it—because it does. If we do not take a stand here, the out-of-control politicians in Sacramento will continue to run roughshod over the families they are supposed to represent.”

To find out more about the referendum petition, visit PJI's home page and www.StopSB48.com. PJI’s Brad Dacus is available to discuss the legal implications of SB 48 with members of the media, in churches and with community groups. Please contact our office at (916) 857-6900 for scheduling.
